Testimonials

  • Allison has been an amazing math tutor for my nine year old daughter for over one year. Her teaching skills harvest the best of each student and improve their confidence by making math fun and approachable. I would highly recommend Allison!

  • “Finding out our daughter was behind in reading at the end of kindergarten was stressful as new parents. We weren't sure where to turn. Thankfully, we found Allison! Over the summer, she not only used creative techniques to engage our initially reluctant daughter but also provided kind and effective instruction. Thanks to Allison's help, our daughter caught up to grade level by the end of first grade. We're incredibly grateful for her support during that critical summer!”

  • I couldn’t recommend a better teacher! Allison has been amazing at teaching my son how to read. She also ensures that each lesson is adapted for his needs and she makes it fun for him. He is always excited on the days that he gets to meet with Allison! Now I want her to start working with my daughter.

“Allison is a skilled and patient teacher.  She tutored both my rising first grader son and rising five-year-old daughter in reading, writing and math.  I couldn’t believe how much stronger and confident my son was in reading afterwards — it was night and day.  The kids were always happy and excited to learn with her.  She also has various methods, tips and techniques she uses to make teaching fun.   Her notes are comprehensive and thoughtful.  Most of all, Allison is an incredible listener; she remembered small details about the kids and tailored her approach to their unique interest.  (One small example: I told her my daughter loves rainbows and she brought a rainbow alphabet chart).  Allison is very responsive and is a complete joy to work with.  We’re looking forward to having her tutor the kids again next summer!”

“Allison has been an amazing tutor for my third grade son. She always comes to sessions prepared with fun, interactive activities to hold my son’s attention geared towards his specific interests and needs. One particular session she came with a math game that my son loved so much he replicated it for a science project he had to do on a hornet! She is wonderful at communicating exactly what they worked on each session and takes the extra time to know every week as well as communicating during the week in-between what her plan is for the upcoming session. In addition, Allison takes into consideration what my son is working on at school while continuing to work on areas my son is struggling in. Despite being reluctant each week to begin working, by the time the session is done he doesn’t want Allison to leave because he is enjoying what they are doing! She is very patient, prepared and knowledgeable with a variety of strategies for sessions up her sleeve. I highly recommend Allison.”

Ms. Allie has been pivotal in the growth and development of our son from a toddler to a preschooler.  We have been working with Ms. Allie for over a year and first met her as the teacher of a STEM (science, technology, and engineering) class held locally for 2 and 3-year olds. When our son was not able to adjust to an early introduction of the preschool environment at age 2 ½, we signed him up for Ms. Allie’s STEM class. The class allowed mothers to attend and introduced the children to interesting scientific questions, such as figuring out what objects float or sink in water and what propels things forward. Ms. Allie led the children in reading books and engaging in hands-on activities, such as a pop pop shooter. She had a tremendous amount of patience and spoke to the children using kind words. Our son immediately loved interacting with Ms. Allie and soon became a regular at her class.  Approximately 6 months later, we expanded our relationship with Ms. Allie from not only attending her classes, but also having her tutor our son to prepare him for preschool. Ms. Allie’s sessions began with teaching the basics of numbers and letters, to familiarize our son with the curriculum in preschool. The sessions grew beyond the basic curriculum to teach him the social-emotional developmental aspects of pre-school. This included behavioral expectations of how to act in the classroom, such as when to ask questions and how to take instruction from the teacher.  Her education of my son continued to grow in this aspect and Ms. Allie invited us to continue our tutoring sessions in her classroom at the school in which she teaches, instead of her home.  This was a God-send, as it gave our son the opportunity to experience the classroom first hand and also helped facilitate a slow transition separating from mom. This ultimately increased his confidence in his ability to learn and engage in educational activities, all on his own, independent of his mother.  The cognitive, and social-emotional growth that Ms. Allie has taught our son is immeasurable. As evidence of this, he just started to attend summer camp at the school he will attend preschool for 4-year olds in the fall. The teachers have provided feedback that he has confidence to engage in fun learning activities and enjoys the social interaction with other children. After a week and a half, he has already made a friend and has started to shine amongst his peers academically. We are so appreciative of Ms. Allie’s mentorship of our son, when we drop him off for camp in the morning and he goes running into the school with a smile ready to learn. Without Ms. Allie’s guidance every step of the way over this past year, our son’s growth and positive development would not have been possible.  We can’t thank Ms. Allie enough for all that she has done, and look forward to our continued tutoring sessions with her and to our son blossoming in the next year at preschool.
